Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday!

It's hard to believe that Christmas has come and gone already. Time goes by too fast! We had a great time, though. We spent Christmas Eve with R & H and her family. We did that last year and enjoy it alot. I made and "tortiere" and H made Chinese food. Yummy! Her sister made fortune cookies and inside was a number. After supper, we did a little Yankee Swap. H had planned it all and it was great fun! Christmas morning, Chris must have been excited about Santa coming, because he was up at 5:30! Madie and I slept 'til 8:00 or so. She was a little unsure of all the gifts at first but once she started, it was too funny. She'd pull a little piece of paper off and crumple it into a ball. She had to do that for every piece! I'm wondering if I need to start worrying about OCD!!! It took a while, but we got all of the gifts open. Chris liked his new "toys", a new cordless drill, a tool box on wheels and a Dale Earnheart Jr. crib board. I got a brand new kick-butt camera! It's a Nikon D40 Digital SLR. I love it! Now, I have to learn how to use all of the funky buttons and learn the lingo about noise, ISO, etc. The camera came with a one hour tutorial, so hopefully that will help! However, I do notice a difference in pictures already, compared to our old camera. Chris's parents, brother and sister arrived around noon and were here for Christmas supper. R, S and little Aly came over too. It was great to have everyone here, for such an important day. R & S gave Madie a little vanity set for Christmas. That night, she wanted to bring it up to her room. She sat there and did her "make up" and nails before going to bed! She's done it every night since. It's too cute!

Yesterday, our little Goose turned 2. I can't believe it! We had a party in the morning, with her friends from baby group and her old "boyfriend" from daycare. We had pizza for lunch and a Dora cake to dessert. Before the party, I found out that her birthday announcement on the radio won her the DQ blizzard cake. Lucky girl! Madie got so many gifts that at the end, she was bored of opening presents and just walked away! I ended up opening the last 2 gifts from her guests! It was late in the evening before she even opened the gifts from us! Actually, we opened them for her and she just watched! She got quite a bit of Dora things, but no repeats. She got books and 3 Dora dolls. My brother and his girlfriend got her a Cabbage Patch baby. Since then, she seems to be obsessed with playing babies. She cuddles them, brings them for walks in her little toy stroller, puts them in a little toy craddle and says "night, night" to them. Today she even changed their bum! She took a big wad of her wipes and used them on her dolls! What a Goose! We were going to go home to Campbellton today, but the weather had different plans. The snow started falling and we ended up staying home. Hopefully the weather will be more cooperative tomorrow! We have to come back on Tuesday, because I got the call yesterday and my ultrasound is on Wednesday morning. I tried to get it changed, but it was pretty much take it or lose it... The good thing is that we'll be able to see our new baby for the first time!!!

Okay, I suck!

I know, I know, it has been over 3 months since my last post... I don't really have any exciting reasons for not Blogging; I haven't been in Jamaica or over seas. I've just been really busy! Don't get me wrong, I love my new job, but man, am I ever tired at the end of the day! Plus, after being away from Madie all day, the last thing on my mind is typing! I'd rather sit on the floor and play with her! So, what's new around here? Well, I must be honest and say that another of the main reasons that I haven't blogged is because it wasn't time to share yet. Share what? Our exciting news, that is! Yup, we're pregnant! I'm 14 weeks along and due on June 1st. We're pretty excited! We've tried to explain it to Madie. Now, when we ask her where the baby is, she points to my belly! I'm sure that this news is another reason as to why I've been so tired.

Other than that, it's been business as usual. Work, eat, play with Madie and sleep. We're starting the countdown to Christmas and are coming along well with our shopping. This weekend, we may even try to get Madie's picture with Santa. Wish us luck!!!

Getting Into the Swing of Things!

Man, time flies! It’s been 3 weeks since my last post and now I’m heading back to work! Yesterday was my first, unofficial day back. I spent the day at district office, going over the Education Act, numerous policies and learning about payroll and budgeting. Fun! It was the “New Admin Training Session”. Tomorrow and Thursday we’re at the Days Inn for a guest speaker on “Communications and Creativity Skills”. Yesterday was an information overload type of day, but it was all mainly review, so it wasn’t too bad!

Let’s see…. Since my last post, we’ve been to Grand Manan and camping in Mactaquac. Grand Manan is gorgeous! The water is a beautiful emerald color and the cliffs and unbelievable! You can get very close to the edge. Actually, a little too close to the edge! Madie was a pretty good little camper and even managed to sleep through a huge thunder and lightning storm! She only woke up when it was all over! We were trying to sleep in the tent, and the thunder kept rolling. My darling husband kept saying, “Man! That was close!” My response, “Shut up! It’s not funny!” Given my fear and total hate of thunder, I was not amused! Our annual trip to Mactaquac for B’s birthday was awesome. R & H came by for part of the afternoon, then H and the boys, followed by R & S and her parents. We all had a great time. Given how dirty Madie was and how often we had to wash her, I think that she had a ball!

This past weekend, I went shopping in Moncton with the girls. I was in desperate need of clothes for work. I found lots of great deals, spending less than I thought and getting more stuff than I had planned! Of course, we had to stop in at Micheal’s and buy a few things! I tried not to spend too much there since I had spent money at my Stampin’ Up party the week before! Again, got more than I planned/thought… The party sales were high enough for me to get $50 worth of free stuff and one free stamp set! Yippee! We also got the chance to meet up with great friends that were visiting from Brockville. We found out that R is going back to school, to become a teacher. Best of luck to him, although it’ll be a breeze for him! I hoped that this would mean that they might move back to the Maritimes, but I don’t think that they will… :(

Today, Madie and I are just taking it easy and hanging out together. I missed being home with her yesterday, but I think that she had fun with Auntie Tim. Chris is taking 2 vacation days to be with her tomorrow and Thursday and then next week it’s back to daycare. Man, where has the summer gone?!

Beating the Heat

The past couple of weeks have been hot, but great. We spent most of last week trying to keep cool. In the mornings, we would hang out on the deck, playing in the pool. The rest of the day was spent in front of a fan or downstairs! Even Madie needed to cool down, wanting to go downstairs more than ever. We even ate supper downstairs! In the middle of this heatwave, I decided to start painting our deck. R & S came over on Saturday to babysitt so that I could go outside. R ended up helping me paint, thank goodness! We got about half of the railing done, but it'll need a second coat, because it was never painted. Thank goodness it's only half of the deck and not the whole thing! Chris and I painted the rest of the railing on Sunday. Now, we just have to get the floor done. That's the worse/the part that needs it the most. I'm hoping to get that done this week.

As for music class, Madie had been a little shy the last few times. Last night, Chris and I both brougth her. What a difference! She was dancing, marching and playing the instruments. She was quite the little musician! We may have to both bring her next time too! Overall, I think that she's enjoying it. Of course she doesn't sing along during class but does in the car on the way home! Here she is, at music class and with Moka. As some of you know, her new thing is to "ride" Moka. She even jumps up and down on her from time to time! Moka doesn't mind, but gives me a look, trying to say "Please make her stop. Now!". She loves her doggy!

Happy Birthday S!

This week has been great! On Monday, we went for a walk, went to music class and we played in the pool. lots! While I was getting it ready, Miss Madie decided that she didn't want to wait and got into the pool, all dressed! Then, when I told her to "Cheese", this is the face that she made! What a goose! Yesterday, N & E came over to play and we went out for lunch with them. After her nap, Madie was a little off and cranky. We brought her downstairs, and then she was fine. Chris figures that she was just too warm. Can you blame her?! After all the running around that we've done these last few days, I think that we'll just stay home and rest up today, in preparation for S's birthday party tonight. Looking forward to that camp fire!!! Happy Birthday and all the best for the year ahead. We love ya lots!

Yeah I did!!!!

I'm not sure how many of you know this, but last Tuesday, I had an interview for the VP position at my school (acting VP, for one year). I was a little nervous, because I got the call late, since we were away on vacation. I only had a few days to read and plan for a half hour presentation on the NB Department of Education "When Kids Come First" document. Well, I went to the interview, felt okay about it and then came the waiting. I was starting to think the worse, since almost a week had gone by and I still hadn't heard a thing. But, today I got the call, from the superintendant herself! I GOT THE JOB! It turns out that they had a hard time getting ahold of my references! My "new administration orientation" begins on August 20! I can't believe it! I'm not entirely sure that it's kicked in yet... It probably won't until orientation or the first week of school. I called a bunch of friends and family to let them know, but it kills me that I haven't told Mom and Dad yet! They're on their way back from Ottawa and even though they have their cell with them, they aren't answering it! Argh!!! The principal also called to congratulate me. I'm super excited to be working with her. She said that she was going to call me after her vacation, "to run things by me"! I feel so important!!!

Vacation Update

Wow, this will be the first full week that we all spend at home, together! Our trip to New Hampshire was great! Our appartment/hotel was just accross the parking lot from the outlet shopping! Of course, that's where we went the first evening that we were there! But, before that we ate at Applebee's. Yum! D was right; the food there is amazing! Most of the money that we spent was on clothes for Madie. We bought stuff for us too, but most of it was for Madie! Other than shopping, we also did the tourist thing. We went to Santa's Village, Loon Mountain (we went to the top of the mountain on a gondola), and went to Clark's Trading Post. There, there were live bears, who performed for us. It was unbelieveable to see what they could do! Madie was in awe the whole time! It was pretty cute! There was also a family from Russia that did trapeze acts. The 2 girls managed to fit themsleves into a 2 cubic foot box... I was in pain for them! All in all, we had a great time and enjoyed spending time with such awesome friends! Thanks guys!
Oh ya, I forgot to post a pic of Madie's haircut... She was asleep when we got there, so she wasn't too impressed or sure of what was going on. But, she was okay after a little while! The new doo looks so cute on her!
